- Astrasoft Bzzz! Information
-
- Thankyou for Downloading and trying Bzzz!
-
- - - Instructions - - Contact Me - - Registering - -
- Another Game ? - -
-
- Bzzz! runs only in Windows 95 - and requires a resolution of
- at least 800*600 - preferably larger - to see all of the
- action screen. Colour is preferable - but not essential.
-
- To Play The Game:
-
- You need to change to the folder which was created for Bzzz!
- (The default is C:\Program Files\astra\bzzz) Double click on
- the file to start the game.
-
- Comprehensive Instructions for playing are further down the
- page.
-
- Shareware.
-
- Bzzz! is shareware - which means that if you enjoy playing
- it, and wish to keep it on your system, then you are obliged
- to register it. I consider one month to be adequate time to
- evaluate this game.
-
- Registration will allow you to play the more challenging
- levels.
-
- You may distribute the shareware version of this game
- freely, provided that neither this file or any other
- components of the game are changed. If you wish to include
- this on any media (e.g. Magazine cover CD's) or on an open
- FTP site, then please contact me via email, so I can ensure
- that you have the most current version. If you wish to
- include a link to the game on your site - then you must
- email me - the URL for the game itself changes periodically
- (with updates), and so it is better to make a link to the
- download page.
-
- Installing and Running
-
- (Previous Versions of Bzzz! have been compiled and written
- using VB 4.0 - which was interpreted as it ran. Version 1.2
- has been compiled in VB 5.0 into native code which makes it
- run much faster.)
-
- The Visual Basic 5.0 Runtime Library (MSVBM50.DLL) is
- required for this program to run. You should ensure that
- this file is in your Windows/system directory. It may be
- downloaded from many FTP sites, and you are likely to
- already have it. It is not included with this game to keep
- the download size down - although the game is only 250K when
- zipped, the VB file would add an extra 1200K - and most
- people have it already, especially if you are using MS
- Internet Explorer. If it isn't there - you'll need to
- download it from an FTP site - Here are my suggested
- locations.
-
- United Kingdom : Hensa
-
- United States : Winsite
-
- Australia : Monash
-
- You are going to need it at some time - since quite a lot
- of software requires it already!
-
-
-
- Online Information.
-
- More information is stored on the Astrasoft Websites: (NB:
- You will need to be connected to the internet!)
-
- Registering
-
- There are two ways to register Bzzz!. For those with access
- to the internet, online registration is available through a
- company which provides such a service. The current charge
- for online registration is 9.95 pounds sterling (Approx
- $16). This is by far the fastest and easiest option.
-
- The second way to register is to send 5 pounds sterling
- (preferably as a cheque) to
-
- Howard Tomlinson Foxwist Green Farm Foxwist Green Whitegate
- Northwich Cheshire United Kingdom
-
- You need to include your full name and your email address if
- you have one (your postal address if you don't). Obviously,
- this is cheaper (there are no overheads!) but will take
- slightly longer, and is a bit more effort on your part! I
- can only reccomend this for UK residents.
-
- If you can't supply me with an email address, then your
- registration will be delayed. (I regret to say that you will
- have to include sufficient extra to cover the postage to
- your country if you are overseas.)
-
- When you register, you will recieve (preferably over email)
- a personalised key code which will unlock your copy of
- Bzzz!. You should not need to download a new copy.
-
- Just how good are you ?
-
- Registered users can submit their highest score so far - I
- keep track of these, and update the high score page on my
- site. You can view the latest scores - and compare your own
- efforts! I would say that a score of 2000 or more is quite
- respectable. Registered users need to send in their score
- for each difficulty level, along with a verification code.
- (This is stored in hiscore.dat)
-
- Updates
-
- Bzzz! is still under development. Every few weeks, I upload
- a new copy to my web site, which contains minor bug fixes,
- and slight enhancements. All future versions of Bzzz! will
- be unlocked by the same Key - so a registration will be
- valid for all versions.
-
- A newer version will probably be uploaded around summer
- 1998. If you are playing after this date - check out the
- website for an update!

-
- INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLAYING BZZZ!
-
- Bzzz! is a simple game, which appeals to many people. You
- control a frog, living in a pond. The frog has one aim - to
- catch as many flies as possible in a limited time. You have
- to click where you think the fly is going to - and it isn't
- always easy - the flies don't like to be eaten!
-
- Minimising the window, or pressing 'p' pauses the game.
-
- To assist you, magic butterflies bring you powerups:
-
- Extra accurate tongue Stickier tongue (allows you to
- catch more flies at once) Extra long tongue Faster
- tongue Purple butterflies help you by making it
- rain.... Multicoloured butterflies give random effects
- - some good, some not so good.....
-
- The game is easier to play than to read about! Give
- it a go!
-
- Testing Thanks go to:
-
- Kirsten Silman (for the tadpole) Graham Harrison (for
- the bubbles) Larry Dyde (For making the flies more
- realistic, and suggesting a pause function) David
- Oakley for frequent testing and knowing more HTML than
- God.
-
-
-
- What comes next..... ?
-
- There is a sequel to Bzzz! in the pipeline - and registered
- users will find that their code also unlocks the sequel....
- Visit The Astra homepages for more information.......
-
- Currently at the release stage is Fire95 - a conversion of
- an old Handheld game. You have to save people junpimg out of
- a burning building by 'bouncing' them into an ambulance with
- a trampoline. Fire95 is FREEWARE! - (that means you can play
- it as much as you like without guilt!)
